What is antenna gain?

news_2

Antenna gain refers to the ratio of the power density of the signal generated by the actual antenna and the ideal radiation element at the same point in space under the condition of equal input power.Antenna gain refers to the ratio of the power density of the signal generated by the actual antenna and the ideal radiation element at the same point in space under the condition of equal input power. It quantitatively describes the degree to which an antenna concentrates input power. The gain is obviously closely related to the antenna pattern. The narrower the main lobe of the pattern, the smaller the secondary discrimination and the higher the gain.  Antenna gain is used to measure the ability of an antenna to send and receive signals in a specific direction. It is one of the most important parameters for selecting a base station antenna.

Generally speaking, the increase of the gain mainly depends on the reduction of the wave resolution width of the vertical plane back radiation, while maintaining the omnidirectional radiation performance on the horizontal plane. The antenna gain is very important to the operation quality of the mobile communication system, because it determines the signal level at the edge of the bee sleeve, and the increase of the gain can be done .

Increase the coverage of the network in a defined direction, or increase the gain margin in a defined range.  Any cellular system is a bidirectional process. Increasing the antenna gain can reduce the bidirectional system gain budget margin.  In addition, the parameters representing the antenna gain include dBd and dBi.  DBi is the gain relative to the point source antenna, and the radiation is uniform in all directions: the gain of dBd relative to the symmetric matrix antenna  dBi=dBd+2.15.  Under the same conditions, the higher the gain, the farther the wave travels.
